What else should we know?

Is the L.A.N.E a real “playground”?

The area is more of an outdoor classroom than what you would expect from a typical playground. The nature-based outdoor space is developed by research-based, field-tested design principles focusing on youth education and whole child development. This allows children to explore and develop a connection to the natural world through engaging in open-ended play!

Is there a cost to play at the L.A.N.E?

The L.A.N.E is open to the public FREE of charge.

This project was a collaborative effort with the Community Coalition of Stanwood-Camano and the Kindergarten Readiness workgroup.  The goal was to provide an outdoor space for the children of our community to explore their creativity and imagination while building foundational skills necessary for a strong start to their education journey. Research has shown a direct link between these outdoor exploration opportunities and the increased development of problem-solving skills, ingenuity, mental and physical well-being, and environmental stewardship.
